Before you print that short link...
A short address looks good on a flyer. A dead or reassigned address does not. Give the link a little thought before giving the printer 500 copies.
Match the link to the paper
il5.me gives ordinary registrations up to one calendar month free. Shorter day, week and two-week options are available. A flyer for a short event can fit that lifetime; a business card meant to last years usually does not.
For long-lived material, use a web address you control and can maintain. The permanent Dynamics example on il5.me is an owner-managed exception, not a promise that public registrations last forever.
Check the exact text
- Open your active short address on a phone and check the destination.
- Find it in the directory. Check the title, source URL and expiration.
- Print a single proof. Ask someone to type the address exactly as shown.
- Keep the private registration ID and removal code somewhere safe.
Do not print a secret
Every submitted destination is public. Avoid document access tokens, password-reset URLs and private invitation links. A shorter secret is still a secret... and publishing it makes it public.
What happens after expiry?
The redirect ends and its address can be reused. Someone reading an old flyer could later reach a different destination. Remove outdated flyers and use your own long-lived address when you cannot control how long the paper circulates.
